Visa 13.4

Counterfeit merchandise

The cardholder says the goods were counterfeit. This code reads provenance: where you bought the stock, what the manufacturer or distributor record shows, and what the listing claimed. An opinion about the customer is not evidence here.

The evidence this code accepts

  1. 1

    Where the stock came from

A supplier invoice or distributor record is the provenance.

  2. 2

The listing the customer bought from

Shows exactly what was claimed about authenticity.

  3. 3

    Batch, serial or authentication records

Ties the specific item to the legitimate supply chain.

  4. 4

Whether the item has been returned

A returned item can be inspected; a kept item cannot.

  5. 5

    Customer messages

Establishes when and how the claim was raised.
