Visa 12.6.1
Duplicate processing
The cardholder says one purchase was charged twice. There are only two situations. Either these are two separate orders, and you show both with their own order numbers and delivery records, or one order was charged twice, and the second charge should be refunded.
The evidence this code accepts
- 1
Whether these are two orders or one order charged twice
The answer decides the code before anything else is read.
- 2
Both charges by date, amount and order number
The reader compares them line by line.
- 3
Separate delivery or supply records for each
Two deliveries prove two orders.
- 4
Refund status on the second charge
If you already refunded it, that ends the dispute.
Where sellers lose this one
- They describe two orders without giving two order numbers and two delivery records.
- It genuinely was a double charge and they respond instead of refunding.
